About halfway between Fort Bragg and Willits on the south side of Route 20 there is a meadow with a Donkey Engine sitting on the side of it. This was the location of Camp 20 of the Caspar Lumber Company. Below is a picture of Camp 20 when it was in operation.

Centralized peeling at Casper Lumber Company landing at Camp 20. Camp 20 was the end of the Caspar Lumber company railroad. Trucks dump logs at the landing, bulldozer turns them for peelers and pushes bark over the bank for burning.
Opposite the meadow on the north side of Route 20 is a road which leads to Chamberlain Creek. On the right as you go down the road is, today, a very dilapidated barn. When the above picture was taken it was the tractor and bulldozer barn. The pictures below show what the barn looked like when it was in operation and what was inside.

Tractor repair shed at Camp 20. 40-foot span, traveling crane, with 2-way travel, operated from ground by hand. 10-ton Yale Block.
These are more pictures I have “mined” from the Bancroft Library archives.
