In my blog of December 14th 2011 I showed some pictures I had found in the collection at The Bancroft Library of the bulldozer and tractor barn that belonged to the Caspar Lumber Company at Camp 20 on Route 20 about half way between Fort Bragg and Willits. Last Monday en route to my chemo treatment in Marin my daughter, Annalise and I stopped to see what was left of the old barn which was in pristine condition in the 1920’s when the photos I posted on December 14th were taken.
We found the barn in sad shape. The barn, we were sure, was built of old growth redwood and whilst dilapidated the wood was in great shape. We drove to the west side and to my immense surprise found that the lifting machinery in the roof was still there – see pics below.
